The first thing you will do is fill out paperwork with health history and other personal information. You will want to fill this out as honestly as possible. For example, if you just found out you are pregnant, you would want to make sure you tell your massage therapist this. They would make sure not to have the heated table top on or using any types of stimulating products.
The massage therapist is a professional, they will make you feel comfortable with good bedside manor from years of experience. The therapist will always make sure you are comfortable and will explain each step of the process prior to starting. He or she will always leave the room for you to undress down to your underwear.
Your massage therapist will first lead you our room. Once in the privacy of the room discuss your paper work. There are two chairs in the room one at the foot of the bed and the other at the head. The therapist normally would position themselves at the foot of the bed and ask you a few questions about your expectations of this session. Then they will start by telling you a little bit about what to expect from your chosen treatment. Normally the therapist will ask you to lay face down to start. When needing to flip over the therapist will quickly leave the room for you to turn over. Once the discussion is over the massage therapist will provide you with a modesty towel. He or she will leave the room and allow you to have a few minutes to undress. You can undress to your comfort level, and take a few minutes to relax. When your massage therapist is ready they will knock on the door prior to entering. They will then tell you a little more about what to expect each step of the way.
We customize the massage entirely to meet your requirements and expectations We will have an understanding with regards to your primary concern or the areas you would like us to focus on more. If you have muscle tension in one particular area its recommend we spend more time on that area. Secondary area are for when your body responds nicely and there is enough time we can get to those parts of the body.
We recommend more than 60 minutes as we feel that if you want lasting effects from the massage you must choose a 90 minute option for a full body massage.
A typical 90 minute full body massage typically starts face down with neck and shoulder work to get you relaxed. Then, they will work up into the head, move back on the neck and shoulders and onto the upper and lower back. Then on to each arm, and work their way to the lower back and will work on the back of the legs and potentially the glutes. Glute work is discussed prior to the start of the massage. It can be very intense but always a great benefit. We will then reach the legs and feet while face down. Next, you will flip around on the massage table and your therapist will finish with massaging the front of your legs and end on your shoulders. Please note that due to the massage being customized for you we may leave out or change one or more of the suggested routine mentioned above.

Swedish and deep tissue massages are very similar. The primary difference is the level of pressure involved. If you’re looking for relaxation and relief from tense, tight muscles, Swedish massage is probably right for you.
If you’re recovering from an injury, deep tissue massage can be a helpful part of your treatment plan.
Feel free to ask questions before you book a massage and to communicate feedback to your therapist during a massage.

A Swedish massage is a form of sports massage that employs kneading, gliding strokes, and other circular motions to manipulate muscles, soothe joints, open the lymphatic system, and relax the body. It is one of many traditional forms of European massage and is believed to be developed in Sweden over 200 years ago. Unlike deep tissue massage, a massage therapist performing a Swedish massage focuses more on relaxation and calming the body by using soft strokes instead of stronger pressure. It’s ideal for those looking to reduce stress or tension associated with everyday life, sleep better at night, and alleviate pain due to sore muscles. A Swedish full-body massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses primarily on relaxation. It incorporates five styles of long, flowing strokes that work across the body for a soothing, calming experience. This massage typically includes full-body leisurely strokes over the client’s major muscle groups including the handles, lower arms, neck, and knee joints. Yet there is much more to it than just that. The massage therapist may also apply pressure to reduce knots in the muscles as well as circling movements around tight areas in order to ease built up tension and improve circulation. This quality attention can be felt in areas such as the back, shoulders, arms, legs and feet. So while not completely curing all ailments, Swedish massages can certainly promote relief with proper attention and care!
Swedish massage may seem intimidating at first, but it is actually a very gentle massage technique designed not to cause pain. It uses varying levels of pressure to help relax the muscles and increase circulation in the body. By manipulating softer tissues, Swedish massage can reduce tension and help with decreasing muscle toxins. To maximize the benefits of this massage therapy, it is important to communicate any concerns or feelings of discomfort to your therapist; they can adjust their approach as needed. With its unique combination of relaxation and deep tissue stimulation, Swedish massage is an excellent way to promote mental and physical well-being without creating any uncomfortable sensations.
Getting a Swedish massage offers many health benefits, and everyone should consider treating themselves to this luxurious experience regularly. Ideal frequencies for massages can range depending on the person, but generally it’s suggested that people look into getting one every four to six weeks. This can help in relieving muscular tension, promoting relaxation, improving overall circulation, and energizing your body. Professional massage therapists are trained to properly assess your individual need and can help you decide how often would be best for you to receive a Swedish massage. Swedish massage is becoming increasingly popular for those suffering from chronic conditions, as it has been found to offer many healing benefits. This study from 2014 concluded that “Massage is a safe, noninvasive treatment that may assist MS patients in managing the stress of their symptoms.” Swedish massage techniques are slow and gentle, which can be particularly beneficial for those dealing with chronic pain or anxiety. The pressure applied by the masseuse is customized according to each person’s needs in order to enhance relaxation and provide maximum relief. Deep tissue massage offers both physical and psychological benefits. It can relieve muscle pain and stiffness and provide stress-relieving relaxation for the body and mind.
Deep tissue massage is a massage technique that’s mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue. It may also promote faster healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation. Read on to learn more about deep tissue massage, including how it stacks up against Swedish massage and what to expect during a session.
Deep tissue massage offers both physical and psychological benefits. Unlike other massage techniques that focus on relaxation, deep tissue massage helps to treat muscle pain and improve stiffness. But it can still help to you unwind mentally, too.
A 2014 study involving 59 participants found that deep tissue massage helped to reduce pain in people with chronic low back. The authors likened its effects to those of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen (Advil).
People have also reported that deep tissue massage helps with:

Deep tissue massage and Swedish massage are two different types of massage therapy. Both use some of the same strokes, but they have different uses and vary greatly when it comes to the amount of pressure used.
Here are the key differences between deep tissue massage and Swedish massage:
Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage, but it goes farther and is intended for a different purpose.
Deep tissue massage is best suited for:
It can also work for people with chronic pain conditions such as:

Deep tissue massage uses many of the same stroking and kneading movements as Swedish massage, but there’s far more pressure. This pressure can sometimes be painful.
In order to reach the deep muscle tissue, a therapist will massage layer by layer of muscle, applying more and more pressure and employing special techniques with the fingers, fists, and maybe even elbows to reach and stretch that deep tissue.
Before a deep tissue massage, you will discuss your problem areas with your therapist. A deep tissue massage can be full-body or focused only on one area. You will begin lying on your back or stomach and under a sheet. It’s up to you to determine your level of undress.
Deep tissue massages begin as a more traditional relaxation massage. After the muscles are warmed up, your massage therapist will begin to work deep into your problem areas.
In addition to their palms, finger tips, and knuckles, your therapist may use their forearms or elbows to increase pressure.
It’s important to be open with your massage therapist about the level of pressure and discomfort you wish to endure. This may be different for certain areas and throughout the massage. Feel free to communicate with your massage therapist before and during the massage. Some massage therapists find pain to be counterproductive to the process and expect you to speak up if the pain is too much.
You should expect a fair amount of soreness in the days following your deep tissue massage. Your therapist may recommend treating with:

Just like the experience will vary, the reasons that people decide on a sports massage will vary. It may be that they have ongoing conditions such as tight calves from running, or tense shoulders from sitting at a desk or have sustained a recent injury from a sprain or an accident, even those that have recently undergone recent surgery opt for treatment; sports massages are also often by those that suffer from migraines and tension headaches.
Usally from the first session however the magic really happens after 48 to 72 hours after to feel the full effect of a sports massage after which you should feel comfortable, rejuvenated and refreshed.
Sports Massage predominantly uses myofascial release techniques to stretch the fascia; a hollow fibrous network of connective tissue made of elastin and collagen that surrounds the organs, bones, muscles and tendons within the body. Poor posture and physical trauma can cause the fascia to become hard and lose elasticity, resulting in a decrease in flexibility; manipulating and stretching it during a sports massage will relax the fascia and tissue it surrounds to regain the flexibility and motion. Other advanced techniques that will be used include –
Trigger Point Work – trigger points are a natural part of the muscle and can directly cause pain without explanation. By using cycles of isolated pressure and release it is possibilities to get rid of the trigger points.
Muscle Energy – This technique often uses an active contraction of the muscle against a resistive source and is mainly used to stretch, strengthen and relax tight postural muscles.
Soft Tissue release – Designed to stretch localised areas of tendons, fascia and muscles that are tight. The tissue and direction of its fibres will be identified, then the either active, passive or weight bearing technique will be applied.
Your body will undergo trauma during a sports massage, and while it’s likely you will feel a bit sore for a few days, you may also feel cold, thirsty and a faint as your body works to metabolize the waste products removed from the soft tissue. Drinking plenty of water and taking a warm bath will aid this process.
When you have been advised against it by a medical professional and those suffering from any viral infection are advised not to receive a sports massage whilst ill. A sports massage will stimulate the circulation and lymphatic system and can cause the virus to spread in the body.
Pre-Event – Designed to stimulate, this massage will focus on the areas of the body that will be exerted during the activity. Typically given 15-45 minutes before the event.
Post Event – Received within 2 hours of undertaking the activity, it aids the tissues to normalise.
Restorative – Often received regularly whilst training for an event or for those looking to improve their personal bests and train harder. Restorative sports massage works to enable further training by preventing injury.
Rehabilitative – Weekly or bi-weekly will serve to alleviate pain from an injury and return the affected tissue to normal.
